Read anything interesting lately?
Before we get started, a little disclaimer: we are not implying you should run down this ENTIRE list on your first date. These are just some cool "getting-to-know-you" questions you might want to keep in your back pocket in case nerves set in, or you want to avoid any awkward silences. OK ... so onto the reading topic! It's not too invasive, yet will give you insight into what the person across from you is interested in - or not.
What's in your fridge?
You probably don't want to ask this out of the blue (!), but in relation to cooking or dining. If you find your date is a foodie with a fully stocked refrigerator, you may have struck gold. This also reveals a bit about this person's lifestyle - are they a planner or more spur-of-the-moment?
So what do you find attractive?
You aren't asking if they find you attractive - but if they say "you," what a nice way to start your date! More importantly, you will learn what qualities they value most.
What do you do for a living?
Is this an obvious question? Yes. Do daters sometimes actually forget to ask this one? Somehow...yes! Finding out what someone does is obviously a must, but also important is observing if they are passionate and positive about it.

We saw this one in an Advice thread and really liked it. You might learn something really amazing about your date - or something really run-for-the-hills scary. Either way, you'll get valuable information.

This can be asked in different ways...we just saw Piers Morgan ask it of George Lopez on CNN. What is one day you'd like to relive? This tells you what is near and dear to your date's heart and could lead to a great conversation as well.
Your Ideal Dinner Guest
You've likely heard the question: if you could invite a group of famous people, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would they be? This is a spin on that one - but just a little more simplified. Of anyone out there, who would you most love to have dinner with?
What's your favorite dessert?
AND would you share it? If they say yes, they'll score a few points in the sweetness department. If they don't like dessert, there may be something wrong with them :).
The Sky is the Limit
Yes, they are likely involved in some sort of job, but what would they do if the sky was the limit? And obligations, rent and bills weren't an obstacle?
What kind of music do you like?
And do you consider yourself a casual listener or a devoted fan? It's fun to hear about someone's passions, and music is something that can potentially connect you with your date easily and quickly.
Where do you feel most relaxed?
Not only will you learn what their favorite spot is, hopefully through describing it your date will open up and you'll get to know them on a deeper level.
Are you a traveler?
Through this question, you'll learn whether they are adventurous or more of a homebody. Most importantly, you will have a better idea about how compatible the two of you could be.
