Jeff and Cassondra
In September of 2009, I joined on a free communication weekend and was matched with Cassondra in October. She sent me an ice breaker telling me that she liked my profile. I sent her one back to say hi. We exchanged e-mails and began communicating outside of e-harmony. Within a day we started talking on the phone. One conversation turned into multiple conversations that stretched over the next several days. We decided to meet after work one evening. Our first date was a little bit unconventional. We were both so nervous and anticipation was so high that we blew off our dinner date and met at her house to watch a hockey game together. Hockey is a passion of mine and being able to share and teach Cassondra about hockey took all of our nerves away. We were intrigued to see each other again and we met up again the next night. Finally on our third meeting we went on our first real date to dinner and a movie where I held her hand for the first time. A few days later I asked her to watch me play hockey. After having her at the game I realized that I really liked her and couldn't let her go. I asked her to be my girlfriend that night and lucky me she said yes.
After realizing that she was the one in a short amount of time we started to talk about marriage. In January we went to a jewelry store to get one of her rings cleaned and found out that her stone was loose. I randomly looked down and saw a gorgeous ring. We talked about the ring for a few hours and whether we wanted to get it. We knew this ring wouldn't be there at the end of the day, so we decided to get it. As I was signing for the ring a couple came up next to us and said, "We want to get this ring." We looked over and saw it was the ring we just bought. We were blown away how this worked out. We just knew that it was right once this happened.
Now I had to plan the proposal, I had a few different ideas that I was thinking of. The moment happened when she suggested going to South Lake Tahoe for the day on February 15th because we had the day off of work. I knew she loved Tahoe and grew up going there a lot. I knew it would be a perfect place to propose and I didn't even have to suggest it. We drove up there and I was so nervous! She could sense something was up with me and on the drive up I was so focused on rehearsing it in my head she scared the crap out of me. We had a plan to take a gondola ride up to a viewing platform of the whole lake. We went around the platform once and I told her, "We need to go around one more time." She was a little hesitant, but agreed to go around again. I stopped at a corner where you could see the whole lake. I told her, "You are so beautiful and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you." She looked away and I got down on my knee and when she turned back towards me I asked her to marry me. She said “Yes” and immediately started crying. She then wanted to go home right away; I told her we wanted to stay longer. I planned a surprise engagement party back at home in Sacramento. We had to be there at five, so I took her to lunch and drove around the rest of Tahoe. We ended up leaving at three to make it in time... at least I thought. We ended up not getting back until seven, but everyone was still there thankfully. Our families welcomed us with tears of joy and hugs. We are getting married on November 6th.
I am so thankful that I found my soul mate. She is so kind, caring and would do anything for friends or family members. I love that we can just laugh together and have fun. I also love the fact that we are both Christian and share the same beliefs. She has always been there for me and I love that she can be there to take care of me.
