Sarah and Charles
Charles and I were matched up on September 6, 2006. We were both looking for the person we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with, neither having been married before or either having kids but wanting them some day. I would sign on for a couple months at a time and had been on and off for about a year. Charles had been on for six months, having signed on for a whole year at once. I was going to give eHarmony.com a couple more months and then I was going to stop signing up for a while. A couple of days after I made that decision, I was matched up with Charles. He was so handsome in his pictures! We communicated through all the stages liking each other more and more as we learned about each other. We got into open communication and learned all sorts of things about each other. Charles tried to impress me by telling me he was a United States Marine, having served in the military for four years. I was in shock to read that, because I (Sarah) too am a US Marine, having served five years in the military. I wrote right back to him saying so, and he was happily shocked to learn that about me! He said his interest peaked even more with me because we had a shared experience, having an idea of what we had been through, just because we were both Marines. We also discovered that we lived only ten miles apart.
We exchanged email addresses and wrote a few emails. And then we exchanged phone numbers, staying on the phone for three or four hours a night for a week straight learning all we could about each other. Then we decided to meet in person. He picked me up and we went to dinner and saw a movie. We were both nervous and kept laughing throughout dinner not sure what to say or do. I don't even remember what the movie was that we went to see. I was just happy to be with Charles.
It has all worked out though. We knew early on that we were meant for each other. We were both happy to be with the other one. We had found someone we could spend the rest of our lives with, someone we wanted to have a family with. He asked me to marry him on his birthday six months after we met. Because we are both Marines, and the Marine Corps Birthday was on a Saturday that year (November 10, 2007), we decided to get married then. It was a simple but great wedding.
