Amy and Kristopher
Our second chance to happiness…
I was a single mother of one son after being cheated on by my ex husband. It was a total shock not only to everyone I knew, but also myself. I was devastated and really wanted that “family life”. I tried Match for a while and went on several dates and just kept getting disappointed again and again and felt guilty for taking time away from my son with an already busy schedule. When I decided to try eHarmony…I was apprehensive but thought that I would go out just on one more date after completing the process. When I started communicating with Kris, I realized that he was a widower and single father of two boys ages 3 and 7. I immediately felt a connection because both of my parents were killed in a car accident when I was 10 yrs old. I wanted to reach out to him and it didn’t scare me that he had the two boys.
Our first date was funny because not only was I about 20 minutes late…I also forgot all of my money and ID. YIKES! When I finally arrived at the Japanese steakhouse, there he stood with the biggest smile on his face. We ended up having dinner and then went for drinks and had the best time. We had soooo much in common it wasn’t even funny.
We said “I love you” just after 3 months and just knew this was the real deal. We both have the attitude that life is short and we try to make the best of everyday. We had been doing the long distant relationship for several months and then started to talk serious. I’m from a small town called Greencastle, IN and he lives in Carmel, IN. I have a thriving business doing massage therapy out of my home and am very involved in the community so making the move was a tough decision when we first started discussing getting engaged. One day it just clicked. I wanted to raise all of these boys! Besides…they love each other and get along wonderfully! I wanted to give his boys what I didn’t get after my parents death. So…we had a talk and I told him I was ready.
I have a ring that my Dad gave to my Mom the Christmas before they passed. It was at a Christmas company party and I was there when my dad gave the ring to my mom. I always admired it and after their death…I got to keep the ring. I have always worn this ring for special occasions but it was starting to lose a couple of stones and was a little dated. I told Kris that when he decided to get a ring…to please not spend a lot of money but to use my mother’s ring or at least some of the stones. He did just that and surprised me with a ring he designed using some of the stones. I cried and cried with happiness.
We both have a second chance at love and happiness thanks to eHarmony. Funny thing is…Kris has a little boy named chance. I love his boys as my own and the oldest asked me if he could call me mom. I tell everyone I meet who is single about my story. Thanks for giving me a second Chance! I’m ready for this new chapter in my life! Thanks again!
