Vicky and Milton
Soul searching, risk taking, life altering - just a few facets of what eHarmony has been for us.Milton and I were matched on December 1, 2005. I was Milton's first communication match. We began visiting in person on the telephone in less than a week. We met in person January of 2006. I took the train across North Dakota in the middle of the winter to meet him. He was waiting for me at the train depot. It was our first look, first hug, and first kiss. We were excited yet not nervous! It was wonderful!
Our hearts have been connected ever since. We live in different states, so that has presented challenges. The summer of 2006 was our first chance to spend a long period of time together. I am a teacher in Minnesota and he runs a fabulous Bed & Breakfast in North Dakota. Our present chosen professions and life circumstances dictate that we remain in different states. We are apart throughout most of the school year and together during the summers. Throughout the school year we get together as often as possible. We strive for at least once a month. We are 500 miles apart which makes it very difficult to see each other every weekend.
Milton and I discussed marriage early in our relationship and were extremely committed to one another from the beginning. Life being what it was we continued strengthening our relationship, growing closer and closer all of the time. On August 6, 2009, Milton suggested we look for a ring, and that was the start of yet another phase of our journey together. Over an Orange Julius and a chewy pretzel in the food court of the mall, marriage was proposed and accepted. Romance was and is alive and well in North Dakota!
A whirlwind year of teaching, hosting guests at the B & B, life in general, and wedding planning ensued. The time and memories are a blur yet finely detailed all at the same time. Engagement parties and showers were hosted by friends and family. It was a time filled with blessings.
Milton and I were married at Wilmington Lutheran Church on the one and only beautiful autumn day of the entire month: October 17, 2009. The snow, rain, cold, and wind abated. The sun shone down and all was truly magnificent! Friends and family shared our joy as we were united in marriage. Tears of joy, miles of smiles, and blessings filled our hearts and minds. We were the first, and so far only, eHarmony couple that our pastor has married. Our relationship is built on the principals that we hold most dear: our love, our faith in God, honesty, hope, and trust. eHarmony matched us based on our compatibility. What a magnificent job it did!
