Monica and Bill
Bill and I come from similar backgrounds and were each looking for someone who shared our faith, political views, view of family and goofy sense of humor. He was in New Jersey, and I was in Colorado.
Enter eHarmony. Bill had been a member for a year, and I had re-joined on a whim because I was bored at work one day. We were matched on Jan. 7, 2008 and had our first communication on the 12th. We flew through the communication steps and, after a flurry of e-mails, had our first phone call on Feb. 4 and met on March 7 when Bill flew out to Colorado. The in-person click was almost instantaneous -- and it was REAL. Two weeks later I was on a plane to NJ to meet his family. It was during that visit that we became an official couple and he told me he loved me for the first time. In June Bill flew to Puerto Rico with me to ask my Dad for his blessing for us to marry, and we were engaged on Aug. 8, a day before my 30th birthday.
Between February and our Jan. 2009 wedding, there were hundreds of phone calls, Skype dates and many visits. Our love and friendship deepened and our relationship became more than what we had ever dreamed or hoped for. We know each other at the deepest levels and accept each other for who we are... but at the same time, we challenge each other to become better and fulfill our potential.
There is no one in the world for me but Bill. He is a man of integrity, character and an incredible sense of humor. I can trust him, and I have fun with him. He can make me laugh like no other, yet there is a solemn sense of "this is what was meant to happen" with him. No matter what life will bring, I know that I can face it with my best friend, and for that, I am grateful.
