Amanda and Alex
It is a great conversation starter! We lived in Pasadena for several years when we were first married and were very involved at Lake Avenue Church which we had heard rumored as the church that the Warrens attended. We would joke about running into Neil there one day and thanking him for introducing us.
I still find it amazing how we met. Both of us were brand new to internet dating and, at the time, still skeptical and a little embarrassed about it. At that time, internet dating really wasn't very "cool." I signed up together with a girlfriend sort of as a joke. My husband was a new Christian and an attorney working long hours in LA and was trying to figure out how he would ever meet a Christian woman. The amazing thing is -- for both of us, we were the first and only individual that either of us met through eHarmony. I had been a member for a week or two and I believe we were matched the very night my husband joined. We blazed through the stages and met at a coffee shop in Pasadena a day or two later. My husband claims he knew I was the "one" from our first date. Being a Licensed Marriage & Family therapist myself, I was much more cautious -- ha! Ultimately, we know it was the Lord that brought us together, but we are very grateful to eHarmony. We truly are uniquely compatible in big, important ways and in small, amusing ways.
Several years down the road, my brother (Luke Helm) met his wife, Christi, on eHarmony and they have been happily married for nearly 6 years and have a beautiful baby girl. So, we're sort of an eHarmony family!
