Mary and Wilfredo
I guess our love story might have started as so many other stories have, which is to say with a lot of skepticism, doubt, an enormous sense of what if, and underlying all those emotions, an overwhelming feeling or desire of hope. After having the system match us we corresponded frequently through eHarmony’s open communication stage for about one week in which time I think we both got a pretty good sense of who was at the other end; we emailed every day, at times 2 or 3 times a day and from my part, I was always looking forward to hear from Mary every day.
We decided to meet almost literally within a week of communicating through the system for the first time. For our first date we decided to meet and catch a movie. I must say though that even though we had just met, the conversation was very pleasant and laid back, this on top of the fact that we liked each other’s appearance from the moment we saw each other and the chemistry was definitely there. Following the movie, we continued the evening by having a night cap in a little but romantic lounge/bar which faces the ocean; to make a long story short, the bar closed and we were politely asked to leave as we didn’t realize it was already almost 3 am.
As time went by I found myself falling in love with her because of how beautiful she was, inside and out. We are both very fortunate to have come from deep loving homes with very strong family values and traditions; both of our parent’s marriages have been stable all throughout our lives and I am sure that just that fact has molded our perceptions of what it is that we look for in life as individuals and more importantly together as a couple. I cannot see myself spending my life without Mary & I strive every day, through my actions, to make her feel a fraction of what she does to me, never taking her love for granted.
On September 4th, 2005 I got down on my knees and asked her to spend the rest of her life with me & needless to say, she happily accepted. We are now in the final stages of the wedding preparations; we are having a small wedding filled with lots of love, immediate relatives, and very close friends. Our honeymoon will be spent in Europe building up life-lasting memories as one. With the grace of God we plan to start our family next year and hope we can pass on to our children the lessons and values taught to us by our parents, and to always love them unconditionally just as we have been blessed in our respective family lives.
Last but not least, we want to thank everybody at eHarmony, and especially to Dr. Neil Clark Warren for all his wonderful advice and initiative in developing such an all encompassing and thorough venue for people to find, as he says, the love of their lives & we sure did!
