Barbara and Lance
For me, I knew by his answers through eHarmony that there was something about him that I couldn't put my finger on, but knew that if I didn't meet him, I'd regret it! Also, out of ALL of the matches I had, he was my ONLY Florida match (where I live!) out of all the others who were out of state. I almost considered closing him too, because he didn't respond right away and waited probably two weeks to write back. I thought I would write him at least once more, and he finally wrote back! I'm sooo glad I didn't close him! It took me about a month or so, after dating, to realize what I had with Lance. And I knew after about two or more months that he would ask me to marry him down the road.
Our first meeting was at a local Starbuck's. We talked for 4 hours straight and closed the place down. It went really well.
I knew that he was going to ask me to marry him, it just a question of when??? He asked me on the beach after dinner and I was stunned; he had to ask me twice! He first told me he loved me (we had decided to wait to say "I love you" for that moment, so when I heard him say that, I thought he was crazy!), then dropped on one knee and asked me. I was floored! He had already talked to my father a week prior and I had no idea at all! My parents kept a pretty good secret!
When Lance asked me to marry him, he had tried to convince me to take a walk on the beach (I was wearing leather boots!) beforehand, and then wanted to take my picture right before he asked. Well, he eventually convinced me to get my picture taken...right next to some garbage cans which did have a white picket fence around them. Anyway, there WAS moonlight and a palm tree right next to those cans, so it was romantic! He took my picture, gave me a big hug and told me he loved me and the next thing I knew, he got on his knee and asked me to marry him. After all was said and done, we both just hugged for the longest time and both started to laugh and then cry together. It was the most amazing feeling in the world.
We were married on July 17, 2004 and came to LA for the eHarmony commercial shoot which was a blast. I've attached some pictures of our little "e" baby, Benjamin Hamilton.
