More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

activity interests -- watercolor, sailing, grandkids, volunteer work, classical music on radio and cds, feeding animals, politics, constructing stuff, genealogy

I typically spend my leisure time

Observing politics on TV and in news magazines; unfocused reading, pathetically amateur drawing & WC., camping, sailing small boat, outings with Az Mountaineering Club, target practice, helping at Literacy Volunteers, duties at Valley Garden Center, summering with kids in Seattle.

The most influential person in my life has been

Amiability, honesty, intelligence, likes outdoor activities (camping, sailing, mountains) casual dress preferred. A giver, not just a taker. Trimness a big plus. Not a TV addict (except for PBS, MSNBC politics, documentaries.) Liberal bias. reads, volunteers, better at housekeeping than I am, tolerates cats,

The first thing people notice about me

Not really sure. Shyness? Self contained ? Detached? Flustered by attention? Old car? No style clothes (tho clean). Tends toward verbal gymnastics and dry humor, Unpretentious. Humble - with cause. Kindly, polite, a soft touch. Little herd instinct. Democratically inclined, both big "D" amd little "d".

The last book I read and enjoyed

"Rascal" by Stone --- missed it when first out. A really deft writer. A nice change from usual D.C. pundits' opinions on how to save the world. "1491" - (Archaeology - Americas before Columbus) The Help - (an unconventional thriller). New Personality Self-Portrait. Exploring the world and myself.)

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Relative good health and capability
  2. Intellectually functional and curious; democratically inclined
  3. Adequate resources for an OK life

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

(aside from how wonderful i am) Competence? amiability? In good shape. Loyal and supportive, Dislike hurting people. Dislike big crowds as at games, races, and "venue events" Hearing not great since I ran a big gun range for years so often have to say the equivalent of "Eh, what?"Speak up.")

Friends Describe me as

Dependable, Kind, Modest, Quiet

A little more about me

Congratulations if the above hasn't put you off. Oh yes -- I have a disinterest in golf and etc. When younger I loved horses, mountaineering and rock climbing. Now a bum shoulder precludes many sports. I gym a bit but not enough. Keep buying Teaching Co. courses that pique my attention. Help at Literacy Volunteers and Valley Garden Center. Walk some...Look (and often act) far younger than I really am. Come from a long-lived family. Not contemplating marriage, but want companionship -- someone to enjoy many different things with -- trust, laughter, intimacy, simple pleasures of being alive.

I am
Very Liberal
