More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

One thing? Please... Jesus, people, youth, education, music, theatre, literature, travel, art, faith, coffee, conversation, relationships, adoption, equality, kindness.

I typically spend my leisure time

Traveling--I want to see as much as I can! Going out with friends--self explanatory. Watching/analyzing concerts/theatre performances. Going to museums. Writing. Watching movies. Reading. Driving to my hometown--I NEED ocean time every so often. Skyping my best friend. Daydreaming. Walking.

The most influential person in my life has been

A relationship with Jesus. A sense of humor, PLEASE, and a personality that isn't quick to take offense. Intelligence, understanding, and the ability to befriend diverse "types" of people. Someone who can be a leader with drive and compassion--who can lay on the charm, but remain honest. I wouldn't hate it if he spoke another language, could boast some prodigious musical talent, or had a second home in the South of France... But when it all comes down to it, I'm cool with a funny Christian. With a job.

The first thing people notice about me

"Resting Bitchface." It is a thing, and I have it, because I am Finnish, and we are a physically stoic people. I assure you, though, I am FAR less intimidating than I can look. After that, my eyes, because they're large, and perhaps my smile, if for no other reason than its break from, well, Bitchface.

The last book I read and enjoyed

This summer I decided that rather than starting anything new, I wanted to revisit some old favorites, just to see what new things I could get out of them. Last week I finished two of the greats: Victor Hugo's "Les Misrables" (I love few things more than Les Miz, literary or musical--but don't get me started on the horrid film casting) and Kathryn Stockett's "The Help." Now, as I stare a new school year in the face, I'm ending these days of freedom with a timeless classic: Tina Fey's "Bossypants."

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Grace
  2. Tight-knit family/reliable friends
  3. These days, an air-conditioned apartment
