Dance Your Way to a Better Dating Life!

Thank goodness for “Dancing with the Stars!” Since the show’s inception, thousands of people have flocked to their nearest dance studio for salsa, ballroom or tango lessons.

What is discovered — besides the fact that ballroom moves are much tougher than expected — is that there are some very cool, like-minded, active singles attending classes! We hear that many new partners — and not just in dance — have started there. So dance class is “in” as a great place to meet potential love matches — and the gym “meat market” scene is kind of “out,” as Heidi Klum would say.

The bigger picture here is what dance can do for you healthwise — from your confidence levels to physical benefits. Your attraction factor increases immeasurably from exercise, due to improvements in both of those areas.

There has been lots of research surrounding the following question: “Does exercise and fitness matter when it comes to sexual attraction?” The answer? Absolutely! Both men and women who exercised regularly reported feeling more desirable and had higher levels of self esteem.

Dancing also creates higher energy levels by sending more oxygen to your tissues and gets that blood flowing through your cardiovascular system. You will actually, physically, look healthier as a result of doing the salsa  (which burns up to 500 calories an hour!)

As far as the dating aspect of dance goes, here are even more reasons to give it a shot:

1. You are more likely to meet a healthy person at an exercise class versus a bar. People seeking exercise are generally there to better themselves. That is attractive in itself — and much healthier than those hoping to drink away their problems.

2. It’s fun. There is something very freeing about letting go of your insecurities and inhibitions and just trying something new and healthy.

3. A good dancer is very sexy! Remember Patrick Swayze in ‘Dirty Dancing’, John Travolta in ‘Grease,’ Uma Thurman in ‘Pulp Fiction’ or Jennifer Beals in ‘Flash Dance’? We rest our case!

4. Connecting with people is healthy! Too many of us handle the majority of our communication via email, text or Facebook these days. How about actually getting out and interacting with other human beings?
