Bob and Beth
My name Bob Weickel and I are from Howell, Michigan. I am writing eHarmony this letter to give you a Big Hardy Thank You!
In September of 2007, I met my soul mate. I must say it was not without confusion and skepticism that this ‘online dating’ thing will work. I signed on with eHarmony in December 2006. With several matches, and lots of communications and two matches resulted in a single date that neither one worked out nor did it result in a second date. Needless to say, I was getting discouraged and thought this is not for me.
My subscription was running out and eHarmony then gave me a deal of two months of matches for the price of one. I thought ok; one more time. I had received several matches in the first month. But there was one that I had looked at and read her profile. Her name was Beth, but she lived 1-1/2 hours north from me. I thought well that can never work, because of the distance.
Few days later I logged on to my home email account and discovered I had a ‘Nudge’ from a match. I logged into eHarmony, and I couldn’t believe it! Beth had ‘nudged’ me to communicate with her. So I sent my first set of questions and answered hers, and so forth. Then we started open communication with our home emails.
I was selling my yard tractor, and had made up a flyer on the computer to send out
as an email attachment to my friends, and relatives. Without thinking I had included Beth’s email address in that communication. That evening I had received an email from her saying, “Now that I have your number, what would you like me to do with it?” I thought about it and emailed her back and said, “Call it”. And she did! I believed we laughed so hard our jaws were hurting! Well, I have to say, the conversion that night was the best!
For the next couple of months we would talk three to four times a week by phone. We felt so comfortable talking on the phone, that we thought it might be time to meet. Because of our distance apart, we thought we could meet somewhere in the middle. We met at Frankenmuth, Michigan. This was half way for both us. Anyway, we hugged at first sight of each other, and spent the day talking, sharing, laughing, and had some lunch. I just did not want the day to end.
Our wedding day was just spectacular with blue skis and bright sunshine, with our family and friends there to wittiness this very special day in our lives. To add to our story, we also are very honored to have gotten married on Beth's Parents 50th wedding anniversary. They also renewed their vows! Very, very awesome ceremony.
My advice to others is “Don’t give up!” Your soul mate is out there and who knows you may get “Nudged!”
