Location: Burbank, CA
Married: August 8th, 2008
After the first match she put me on hold for a while, and later responded back. She knew that I was from Hawaii (from my profile) on the same island where she's also from. I didn't know that until she told me. We started communicating more and got to the point of dating and hanging out. Our relationship became stronger and after several months went by, I decided to take her out for a special evening. I told her that there is this special art drawing/painting event on a boat ride going on out in Long Beach called "Portraits on the Water". Because I'm an artist, she knew I wanted to go to this, so she went along for it. I brought my painting canvas, color pencils and brushes and started drawing her while the gentleman was paddling on the gondola. I told her that we're supposed to be drawing each other with the water and landscapes background. It was near sunset, so I asked her to reach for my other paintbrush that I was more comfortable with. She asked which one, and I told her it's the one that's really tattered and covered with paint. She pulled it out of the container and out came the paintbrush with the engagement ring wrapped around the paintbrush handle. We decided to have our wedding on August 8, 2008 since in Asian culture, 888 means good luck!
Our Hawaiian wedding rings were engraved on top with the word "Kuuipo" meaning sweetheart. We wanted to have our wedding in Hawaii since most of our relatives are back there, but because August 8th was so popular most hotels were already reserved by other wedding couples. So our second option was in Las Vegas. I never thought I would be in tears and choking-up when I was repeating those words in our vows that day. Not even my dad or relatives and friends remember that last time I cried. It was cute seeing the flower girl crying too.
We are also planning a second reception in Hawaii sometime in October for those who couldn't make it up here in the Mainland. And after all that's done we are planning our honeymoon in Italy. I haven't been yet to Europe (shame on me as an artist) but I’ve been all around visiting the other side. And since this the only chance we can go to Europe before settling down with kids, we should do this now or else we won't have the chance to. We are both looking forward to our honeymoon and like it says engraved inside our wedding rings "All Sales Final".
