Anthony and Jennifer met through eHarmony after giving up on all other avenues like bars, college, and friends. The proposal was the most romantic event of their lives.
Anthony was taking Jen out to dinner with his sister and her boyfriend. They met at Gastronomia in West Caldwell for some good Italian eats and planned to take an hour drive after dinner back to Flemington as Jen forgot to pack her necklace for the trip. Low and behold the blueprint plan was already being carried out. The couple stopped in Lincoln Park after dinner to get Jen’s car keys and Anthony slowly unlocked the door to unveil the surprise of her life. The song “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” by Natalie Cole played in the living room and candles were lit amidst rose petal paths in between each room.
Anthony started to guide Jennifer through his blueprint proposal plan and began sitting on the couch with her in his living room where the computer was set up, candles were lit, and they reminisced about their first emails and shared their profiles. Jennifer was presented with a card that read: “This is how we met.” Next, Anthony directed Jennifer to follow the rose petal path to the dining room where candlelight lit the table and a menu from City Bistro was displayed. A framed picture of the couple was next to another card that read: “Our first date.”
Then the rose petals steered down the hallway to the guest bathroom where candles were lit everywhere and Jets gear was strew all over. Pictures of Jen and Anthony were attached to the mirror where lipstick spelled Baltimore, MD, Jets vs. Ravens. Jennifer was presented with a brand new Jets sweatshirt under another card that read: “Our first road trip.” WOW! After that stop, the two of them followed the rose petal path to the guest bedroom to find a huge heart made of white Christmas lights hanging on the windows above a candlelit pyramid of pictures and cards from birthdays, Christmas, and Valentines Day. Anthony gave a book of love poems to Jennifer and another card that read: “This is how I feel about you LOVE!”
Jennifer was amazed! She knew Anthony was romantic, but never before had she experienced something so special. She was taken back by all of the thought, and time, and effort he put into this amazing gift. The rose petals only led to one more stop- the master bedroom. Sade was playing in the background, 2 dozen red roses sat upon the nightstand, champagne chilled on ice and chocolate covered strawberries tempted to be devoured. And on the bed, in a heart made of rose petals, lay a silver platter with two candles and a jewelry box. Anthony invited Jennifer to sit on the bed while he got on one knee and explained how he couldn’t imagine his life without her.
Through teary eyes, they both pronounced their love for one another and Anthony nervously slid the ring on Jennifer’s finger. Conveniently enough there was a camera strategically placed next to the bedside and after the first flash, the doorbell rang to reveal the culprits behind the stage set up. They took pictures of the newly engaged couple and joined in the celebration for a toast.
