Scott and Martina
Fate, with a lot of help from eHarmony, brought me my soul mate into my life in November 2007. Our spontaneous first meeting happened just 30 minutes after our first phone call. From the very beginning it was obvious to all who were around us that we were perfect match for each other. I finally found the person that “gets me” in Martina.
When it came time to propose, I wanted to go the old fashioned route and ask for her parent’s permission. That route led me to learning Slovak without her help so that when we went to Slovakia to meet her parents I could ask for their daughters hand in their language. They were touched at the effort and gave me their permission.
The proposal happened just a few days later in Prague in the early hours of the morning. We were on the Charles River Bridge in front of the Prague Castle having our picture taken by a friend. At that point, the old eHarmony theme song “This Could Be an Everlasting Love” started playing for the iPod in my pocket. We started dancing and Martina thought I was just being silly…again. After a few graceful moves, the mood got more serious and I dropped to my knee and asked her to marry me in both Slovak and English to which she said, “Ano!!!” which is yes in Slovak.
We are just got back from getting married on the beautiful island of St. Thomas. It was a beautiful day that was eclipsed by an even more beautiful bride.
A heartfelt thank you goes out the eHarmony for bringing my amazing, wonderful, caring, loving, beautiful, thoughtful, compassionate (I could go on and on) wife, best friend and soul mate into my life!
