We became engaged on August 2, 2008 which was our one year anniversary.  Our first date was one year earlier on August 2, 2007.  That date has special relevance as it was the day following the I-35 Bridge Collapse in Minnesota.  The night the bridge collapsed Steve was leaving work and his route home should have been over that bridge.  We have estimated that he missed being on the bridge at the time of collapse by about 10 minutes.  So the next night, on our first date, we had so many reasons to be grateful! 

Becoming engaged on our one year anniversary was special!  We were at a cabin "up north" as we say here in Minnesota enjoying a long weekend of sun and the lake.  It was just the two of us and Steve's Dog, and he asked me right after finishing the dinner dishes!
