Location: Ellicott City, MD
Engaged: April 15th, 2009
Jenee and I were delivered our match on January 6, 2008. We breezed through our questionnaires and must haves\can't stands. I was anxious to meet this woman and queried her in more detail about her brother in Ohio which is where I'm from and how she pronounced her name phonetically. She replied "it's like Renee, but with a 'J'". A few weeks later we had our first date on President's Day in DC. I drove down and she remarked how she liked the restaurant I chose. I liked how it was really easy to talk with her and felt like we had a lot in common. In the middle of dinner one of the staff returned her purse to her that she left at the bar(whew!) and I asked her to accompany me to another restaurant (date#2)when she got back from an overseas trip she was going on for 2 weeks.
I remained in contact with her while she was away in South Africa and Ethiopia. When she returned we met again. We really hit it off and planned a weekend afternoon visit so I could introduce her to my Bassett hound - Cosmo. We walked around the Tidal Basin in DC to bask under the Cherry blossoms in the Spring. I didn't know how living in different cities was going to play out, but we gave it a chance and we kept spending more and more time with each other. It didn't seem so far away.
We got to know each other through this process and remarked that there was something to being paired with someone who shares similar values and preferences. Our relationship took us on a journey where our personalities shined through and allowed us to open up and find honesty and truths about one another - both good and bad. Our relationship developed into a loving, meaningful and caring affection for each other which was facilitated though the foundation of what brought us together, eHarmony.
In April, we travelled to Europe together. Our first overseas vacation together. We stayed with friends she met when she travelled in college and I got to meet them. We rented a car in Germany and drove to France for a couple of days. First stop, Paris which took five hours and with some planning ahead of time I plotted a course to the Eiffel tower. At the top, I asked Jenee to close her eyes as I bent to one knee and opened a ring box. When she opened her eyes I said, "I Love you and I will always Love you. Will you marry me?” Her reply was yes and we are planning our wedding for October 31, 2009.
