I had tried eHarmony for three months and didn’t have any luck, so cancelled my membership. Six months later, I ran into a colleague that told me she met her husband on eHarmony and I should give it another try. I thought about it for a few days and realized I needed to give it one more chance. I decided to open a new account and really take my time with the questions this time, because I didn’t feel like I was had anything in common with my matches the first time I tried.  The first night I signed up again I was matched with Preston.

Preston had been on and off eHarmony for a couple years and hadn’t had any success either. On his 32nd birthday his mother gave him the money to give eHarmony another chance. That was the best birthday present he ever received. It took Preston awhile to answer my request to communicate. He said he wasn’t that into it because he had not had success in the past. After closing him out for not responding, he then opened my profile and decided he needed to answer my request. We communicated via email and phone for about two months. Our first date was on December 8, 2006. 

We had the most amazing courtship. On Feb 14, 2007, we went on our first trip together to Hawaii. He had a business trip and I had never been to Hawaii before, so he invited me to go - it was the best Valentine’s Day every. We both knew after that trip we would probably get married. The year continued with a snow skiing trip to Utah, scuba diving in Key Largo, roller coaster riding in San Antonio and several other trips.  We both had a love for the outdoors and being active.

We had both agreed we didn’t want a long engagement when we got engaged, so we decided to start premarital counseling.  During the counseling sessions, we had to take a personality/compatibility test. When the results came back our counselor told us that of all the couples she had counseled, we were the most compatible she had ever seen – thanks to eHarmony.  We knew we had a wonderful relationship, but to hear a counselor say it confirmed everything for us.

We got engaged on Dec. 31, 2007 in Cancun, Mexico. We decided to have a small destination wedding because we are both really close with our families and we wanted it to be a celebration with our closest loved ones.  We were married on May 18, 2008 on the beach in Seaside, Florida.
