Scott and I met in August 2004 and even though we look very different (he's 7 foot 1 and I'm 5 foot 5), we didn't let that stop us. We immediately got along and enjoyed each other's humor and company. We have continued to get to know each other, learn to be in a relationship with each other, and love each other throughout.

We became engaged on June 21st, 2008. Knowing that I am a planner and although I say I like surprises, I really want to know what is going on, Scott concocted a plan to propose and catch me off-guard. He decided to plan a "Scott Day of Fun" to keep the plans secret. All I was told was that we were going on a hike, would drive for 2 hours, then check into a hotel, site see around the area, and to dress nicely for dinner.

On Saturday, June 21st, woke up early to go hiking. We went on a hike to a waterfall called St. Mary's Falls, which was the first hike we did together back on September 25th, 2004 and also the first time we kissed. After another person visiting the falls left, Scott said "let's go to the base of falls." So, we walked just about 30 feet to the base of the falls. I, oblivious as to what was about to happen was taking pictures and Scott said he was going to take off his hat because his head was sweaty. I looked at him and then he said, 'We've been together for 4 years and I want to be with you for many more. Will you marry me?' He was kneeling and opened the ring box. I, totally caught off guard and surprised that this was happening, said "is it real?" He obviously said "yes," and I politely instructed him to "put it on." So, with the ring on, I asked, "did I answer you? Yes, I will." The ring Scott gave me was his grandmother's who he was really close to.

We are so fortunate to eHarmony for matching us. We think it is important to be ready to meet the right person and we were.

Scott is currently a high school math teacher in Canon City, Colorado, and I am a Ph.D. student in Higher Education Administration at the University of Northern Colorado. We have been living 3 hours apart for the past 2 years, so we are excited to finally live together!
