Hi there! This is how it always goes. How did you all meet living 3 hours apart? I say, “eHarmony.” I get, Are you kidding?” Then I tell our story. I joined eHarmony not really expecting to meet anyone. Like a lot of people I just wanted to see what it was about. But there was some hope in the back of my mind that it would really work. The same goes for my now husband. He didn’t really expect it but hoped.
I received and email that James from Dayton has requested communication. I had had other requests but I knew what I was looking for and wasn’t going to settle. I saw he was 3 hours away (I lived in Ashland, KY) and started not to respond but then I thought why not? He might move if it works out. His profile was great he reminded me of me! So I answered his questions and sent mine. We started emailing on the 19th. Keep in mind I really couldn’t tell a lot from his pictures so to be completely honest I wasn’t even sure if I was attracted to him. But he was so enjoyable to email and had a great sense of humor which was in the top 3 of things I had to have in someone. Then he sent his number and said if I was ever curious to call. I wasn’t that brave so I sent him mine and left if up to him. He called that night on. He couldn’t talk long; he was firefighter training but as soon as I heard his voice it felt like home. I know that sounds crazy it’s just how I felt.
I emailed him a picture of me at work the next day so he could see where I was sitting just to get a visual. He said it looked a like my cubicle could use some color. Later that day got the most beautiful flowers! I couldn’t believe it! We talked that night on the phone for 3 hours. The next night and the next we were on the phone for 6 hours each! I couldn’t believe how great he was we kept talking every night and I was just falling head of heels for him! We decided to set up a time to meet. I was sooooo nervous. I was so afraid that I would see him and there wouldn’t be any sparks. I told him I would almost rather keep up what we had on the phone the take the chance of meeting and there being no chemistry and it being over.
So he came in to Ashland on Nov 30. I have never been so nervous about anything in my whole life. We didn’t take our eyes off of each other. He walked right up to my porch and gave me the biggest hug! Then he said he’d be right in so I went in and waited for him. He came in and had a vase with a dozen red roses in it. It was huge and they were beautiful! He put them down and gave me another hug. Then he said just in case there weren’t enough sparks, he reached in his coat pocket and pulled out a box of sparklers. I just melted. We went out to eat when we left the restaurant and we were walking back to the car he asked if he could kiss me. Well duh! Of course he could. And that sealed the deal. I knew he was the one for me! My soul mate!
When I would see the commercials and people would say we finish each others sentences I thought “sure.” Well, now I know it’s true. We think so much alike. Things progressed really fast after that.
I have 4 daughters 4, 8, 22, and 24 and he has a daughter that is 9. And we had to figure out what would work best. Neither of us had said that we were willing to move in our profile. I had always said I would never move and if for some reason I did it sure wouldn’t be to Ohio. Well here I am living in Ohio! We decided it would be best for me to move that way I could be a stay at home mom. When I tell people our story I’m so enthusiastic about it. I tell everyone that is single they should join that it really does work! When we first started talking my oldest daughters were teasing me and saying, Awww. Mom’s going to be on an eHarmony commercial.” I am definitely a walking testimony for it! Well I just wanted to share that with you all. Everyone keeps telling me to send you our story so there it is. Thank you so much for bringing us together!!!!!!!
