Location: Du Quoin, IL
Married: October 22nd, 2011
We had a picnic at a park in a small town. We talked for several hours and then decided to go out on a formal date. About two weeks later we met up at a winery, at lunch, and just spent a lot of time talking. We were very compatible, not just personality wise, but we shared the same religious faith and both felt strongly about that in our lives.
We continued a long distance relationship for the next two years. Neither of us could leave our job at that time, and with the economy the way it is, we weren't sure she would be able to find a job down here. So we kept seeing each other on weekends and whenever possible. It was very tough keeping up a long distance relationship, but we made it through.
We were engaged of January of 2011. I asked her to marry me at the same park where we met. I had hoped to get down on my knee in the park, but it had snowed, there was ice everywhere, and the park was closed. So I ended up pulling into the entrance and just asking her right there. It wasn't perfect, but she said yes and that is all that mattered.
We were married on October 22, 2011 in my hometown where we live now. We decided to live there as I have joint custody of my two daughters. We are very happy and our family is meshing together well -- even with three daughters, ages 3, 4, and 7.
eHarmony worked for us. I had contact with other matches and Courtney had as well, but none went as far as ours did. I had only been on the site about a month when I was matched with her and she had been on the site almost 6 months at that point. I could not see my life without her and am so happy it worked for us.
