I just want to share an eHarmony success story. Earlier this year, you matched me with Debbie from Addison, Texas. I immediately was drawn to her profile. I really liked what she had to say. I had been a member off and on over the years and have seen many profiles that just didn't look like much effort was put into the information, but not Debbie's. It looked like she was genuinely interested in meeting her match, same as me. So I initiated communication and after maybe a week we made it through the guided part. We then communicated openly for a while and then finally started talking on the phone and via email. At the very beginning I had a feeling we had many things in common and shared the same values, but not to the level she and I click at. Sure we have a few differences but that is where our differences complement each other. We always still meet in the middle.
We had met at a really nice restaurant in her part of town. I immediately knew I liked her from the start. Dinner was great. We almost didn't want to leave the restaurant but since this was our first date I didn't want to sound pushy and not be a gentleman. When I got home I sent Debbie a text message saying I had a really nice time and that I wanted to see her again. She said the same. We had our second date the following week, and then a third, fourth, fifth. The rest is history. I knew by the third date this was the girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
So along comes May 5, 2008. I decided this was the day I was going to pop the question and propose. I had picked out the perfect ring that I knew she would like. Debbie is a very smart girl and I knew pulling this off and having it be a surprise wasn't going to be easy and that I had my work cut out for me. I knew I was going to have to make up a story and not make it too obvious. I called Debbie up at work and I asked her after work that I had a job interview and that she could go with me and then we could have dinner. I knew exactly where I was going to propose but there are not many restaurants nearby. Initially she did not want to go to the 'interview' with me but I kept my cool and finally convinced her to go. Did I say she was smart? We finally arrive at the place and I needed to find a place to park. I could tell she didn't want to get out of the car; she was fairly obvious about that. I finally was running out of excuses and when she said "why do you have to park the car?" I said "so I can ask you to marry me!" I think by then both our hearts skipped a beat. At first she didn't believe me. But after I told her the ring was in my pocket it soon became known I wasn't joking around. We finally parked the car and I proposed by the canals in Las Colinas, Texas. She said "Yes!"
We both want to thank eHarmony for matching us and making this all possible. We both grew up in the same town all this time, yet our paths never crossed for whatever reason. But I do believe that somehow she and I were meant to be together and that we will always be together and remain true to one another. We are so excited and can't wait to spend our next journeys together, and we truly thank eHarmony for making that all possible.
