On a vacation in August of 2007, Matt proposed on “The Lost Coast” of Northern California watching the whales and sipping wine at sunset. They plan to get married in September of 2008. Matt had previously dated people he met on eHarmony, but Shannon had never tried any online dating prior to joining eHarmony. They both chose eHarmony because of the amount of effort that is involved—and wanted to meet people that were willing to put in the effort to meet someone special for a real relationship. Matt was among Shannon’s five first matches, and was her first date ever from eHarmony and online dating in general. On their first date they were talking about the various places they've lived in Seattle and realized that both of them lived in the same six-unit apartment building! Matt moved out of unit 3A the same month that Shannon moved in to unit 2B, which was May of 2000. They don’t remember ever meeting, but it’s possible, even likely, they passed their future spouse in the hallway and never knew it. Everyone in Matt’s and Shannon’s families, as well as their friends, were not at all surprised by the engagement. It was clear from the very beginning that they were perfectly matched. They look forward to continuing on their journey in marriage and eventually a family of their own. Thank you!
