Location: Bogota, Colombia
Married: November 5th, 2005
When I started using eHarmony I was hoping to meet a smart, sophisticated woman, who had all the qualities of the typical "girl next door." I had no idea I would find her over 2,000 miles away in Bogota, Colombia.
By the summer of 2004, after more than 4 months of communicating through eHarmony, email and phone, I knew Maria was the girl of my dreams. I bought my ticket and on September 7, traveled to Bogota, Colombia. After a few minutes of wandering the chaotic scene of El Dorado airport I saw Maria through the crowd running towards me. Her long, curly brown hair flowing behind her, Maria came running from across the street. We embraced and twirled around among taxis and swarms of people. Then we shared an amazing kiss that was like we had been kissing forever.
We spent several days together, touring the countryside and the city of Bogota. We drove up along the Andes and into tiny colonial towns, and went out with friends and family. But we knew in an instant that we were right for one another. Maria had to travel to the US for business and we were lucky to see each other a couple of times more before 2004 ended.
Our phone bills kept going up and up since we talked everyday, more than once per day. At the end of January, I went to Colombia again and by the end of March, Maria came, met my mother and back in Colombia, she told her father and we were officially engaged!
Maria moved to Houston in April and the serious wedding planning started. We finally got married on November 5th, 2005 in Fort Lauderdale, after dealing with hurricane Wilma in a beautiful ceremony with many of our friends and relatives. eHarmony allowed us to meet, get to know each other in a safe environment. It goes beyond any country borders!
