Rachel and Jason
I first emailed Jason after reading about his love for travel and visiting Disney World. We made it through the 4 phases of communications fairly quickly, and as we began talking on the phone we discovered that we grew up in the same town (less than 1 mile apart), and went to the same elementary, middle, and high school---and we never knew each other!!
On our first date, we went bowling and had sushi for dinner. The conversation captivated us both so much that the restaurant had to tell us they were closing and we had to finish up. All in all, the date lasted 9 1/2 hours. We saw each other every day that week. The following Tuesday, I went over to his house to watch American Idol, and I never left (to this day).
When Jason first came to meet my family, we learned the first of many surprises---Jason and my sister knew each other!!! They went to high school together and hadn’t seen each other in years, and I had no idea that my sister knew him. That was only the beginning of the similarities and family-ties that we would soon discover. It turned out that we went to the same Temple as kids, our parent’s have many mutual friends, and my mother works at the same school as Jason’s aunt. Once it was time for our parents to meet each other, even we were amazed at how well they instantly got along. The 4 of them now get together all the time (with or without us) and we are truly one big family.
On July 14, Jason and I went on vacation to Boston, my favorite city. Jason, who had never been to Boston before, planned a very romantic dinner and evening out (from 3000 miles away) and surprised me with a horse-drawn carriage ride and a spectacular dinner overlooking the scenic Public Garden. After dinner, we took a romantic stroll through the Garden, stopped at a park bench, and after telling me how much he loved me and how I was the most important thing in his life, he pulled out a ring box, dropped to one knee, and made me the happiest girl in the world! The evening was completed with a hotel room decked out with rose petals and champagne & strawberries. Now whenever we are watching TV and see an eHarmony commercial, we just smile at each other. We were married on June 25, 2006 at Walt Disney World in Florida and currently live in the United Kingdom.
