This is LeAnn writing "our story". Mick was first attracted to me because of my profile. We had much in common and he liked that I didn't take myself too seriously. I had said that being a college basketball coach allowed me to "play all day". I was first attracted to Mick because of his humor, his athletic ability and his obvious intelligence. It didn't hurt that he was a Navy Fighter pilot. Everyone has seen "Top Gun"!
After going through the eHarmony process and emailing each other, Mick asked me on a "phone date." Of course we talked for HOURS each night. We knew that we must meet to see if this is the real deal. You still get such a "sanitized" view of someone over email and the phone. Mick flew me out to Maryland around Christmas time. He had all the logistics set up so I would feel comfortable coming out there. We were staying with some friends’ parents and other "chaperones" during our five day blind date. The date ended with us driving down to North Carolina to stay with his brother and family (to get their approval). Mick didn't "claim" me as his girlfriend until I scored three touchdowns (one passing, one running and one catching) in a friendly flag football game and guys started asking who I was. :-)
There was a definite connection that I had never felt. I tell everyone that Mick had me at STARBUCKS. Mick knew of my addiction to Starbucks coffee so instead of bringing flowers to the airport to greet me, he brought my favorite Starbucks drink! :-) We have been married for three years and have learned so much. We just welcomed our second child, Amelia Hope, into the family on January 9th, 2007. Our first daughter, Camille Elizabeth, arrived on August 27th, 2005. eHarmony was an awesome tool that brought us together. How else would a college basketball coach living in the Midwest and a Navy fighter pilot who moved every 18-24 months living on the coast ever meet?!! :-)
We have our struggles with him being deployed for many months at a time serving our Country but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I never thought in a million years that something or someone would be able to get me to give up my college coaching career that I loved. THANK YOU! I had seen and dabbled in a few of the other match sites. None compare to eHarmony. We tell everyone we meet that it is best summed up as "chaperoned dating on the Internet."
