We started by talking through eHarmony. Then, we exchanged phone numbers. The second time we spoke on the phone, we talked for 8 straight hours. It seemed a lot shorter than that to us. We found out we had a lot in common. Bits by bits, we started sharing more and more with each other. We spoke on the phone everyday and exchanged numerous text messages. He fell in love with my laugh and he started calling me "Giggles". I fell in love with his voice and his passion. We both found the other half of ourselves. We built this very strong mental and emotional connection.

When we saw each other, we felt like we had found the person we’ve been looking for all our life. We looked at each other and time stopped. He kissed me right there at the bus station and I kissed him back. It felt as natural as if we’ve been together for years. The hardest part for us is the distance. He lives in the United States and I live in Quebec. We cannot spend as much time as we’d like together. On the other hand, that makes every second spent together even more precious. On March 27th, we got engaged after he asked my mother for my hand. Very traditional. Since my family and friends only speak French, he’s making a tremendous effort to learn the language, so he can talk with them. Once we’re married, he’s gonna move to Canada.

I’ve always said I would never get married. I just didn’t see the use. But, since I’ve met Shawn, I understand. There’s nothing we want more out of life than getting married, having a family and growing old together. We were happy before knowing each other. Today, we are just happier and we feel complete. It’s like there was a piece of us missing even if we didn’t know it. But, now, we’ve found that missing piece. We complete each other. My weak points are his strong points and vice versa.
