eHarmony Launches First Country-Specific Website in Canada The Internet’s Most Trusted Relationship Service Introduces eHarmony.ca
PASADENA, Calif., February 12, 2007—eHarmony, the Internet’s #1 trusted relationship service, today announced the launch of a new Canadian website (www.eharmony.ca), the first country-specific site the company has introduced. eHarmony.ca will make it easier and more convenient for users living in Canada to register and subscribe to the service. Currently, Canadians represent the second largest group of registered users on eHarmony.com. (1)
With more than 14 million registered users, eHarmony was the first relationship service on the Web to use a scientific approach to match highly compatible singles and the success of the company has been nothing short of remarkable. On an average day in America more than 90 eHarmony members marry as a result of being matched on the site. (2) Additionally, the 2005 eHarmony Study of Marriage in America has also shown that singles who were matched by eHarmony and later married are significantly happier than couples who met by any other means.
“If you’re going to match singles who have the highest probability of marital satisfaction, the eHarmony model – matching singles who share broad based compatibility – is the only scientifically proven way to do it,” said Greg Waldorf, CEO of eHarmony. “Launching and promoting country specific sites like eHarmony Canada is going to enable us to introduce our unique matching system to more people around the world.”
The eHarmony process begins when a new user fills out a comprehensive relationship questionnaire designed to identify their key characteristics, beliefs, values, emotional health and skills. The user will then receive a Personality Profile, which provides insight into the user’s needs and values. Once the profile is complete, eHarmony's patented Compatibility Matching System (the only industry patent of its kind) will match the user with other singles based on the 29 key dimensions that are necessary for compatibility and relationship success. A user will only see matches eHarmony has found to be compatible, thus eliminating the frustrating process found on dating sites where people must search through a database of singles who may not be right for them.
The launch of eHarmony.ca coincides with the launch of eHarmonyLabs, the only industry relationship laboratory of its kind dedicated to researching the initiation, growth and maintenance of life’s most important relationships. Led by a team of five PhD’s, who are all recognized experts on human relationships, eHarmony Labs will leverage its findings to bring to the market new products and services designed to improve relationship health and longevity.
