SANTA MONICA, Calif. – November 12, 2012 – eHarmony, Inc. today announced the appointment of Thod Nguyen to the role of Chief Technology Officer. Thod will be responsible for the oversight and leadership of the company’s global technology innovation, strategic development, operation and growth. In addition, he will lead and collaborate with engineering, data analytics and technology operations to drive the company’s technological competitive advantage.

“eHarmony is at the forefront of the advancing fields of big data and machine learning. Its technology team has been working for the last 12 years to build a proprietary technological infrastructure and intricate algorithms to enable matching of compatible individuals on the basis of the company’s 29 dimensions® of compatibility, which was originally envisioned by Dr. Neil Clark Warren” said Thod Nguyen. “The complexity of the underlying technology powering eHarmony rivals what companies like Google, Facebook and Microsoft’s Bing are utilizing to deliver results that are most significant to users.”

“As we develop new offerings and report new evidence of eHarmony’s impact and ability to deliver highly successful compatible relationships, our proprietary technology platform becomes ever more important,” said Dr. Neil Clark Warren, founder, chairman and Chief Executive Officer, eHarmony. “For twelve years, eHarmony has maintained the most sophisticated technology in the segment and as we expand our reach, we will continue to hold that leadership position. We are pleased to welcome Thod to our team and know his caliber of expertise will assist in driving all our technological endeavors going forward.”

Most recently, Thod served as the Chief Technology Officer for MyLife.com where he was responsible for the company-wide technology vision, strategic roadmap, infrastructure, team building, technical leadership and agile project management for all cross-functional initiatives in multiple locations globally.

“eHarmony has one of the most advanced platforms in the technology space. It operates at the forefront of big data and machine learning which are the future of the technology industry,” said Thod. “I am very pleased to join eHarmony, a company so focused on innovation and development as a vehicle for achieving its goal to deliver the most compatible and highly successful relationships. I look forward to helping drive Dr. Warren’s bold, expanded vision.”

Before joining MyLife, Thod served as the Chief Architect at United Online Inc., whose brands include MyPoints, Classmates, FTD and NetZero. Additionally, Thod holds a patent for Web Acceleration. Thod received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University.
