The one thing I am passionate about...
Eco/Environmental/Global issues. Adventure & traveling the world (3 months in Central America last year), sailing (racing and cruising), scuba diving, snowboarding, biking (on or off road). Meaningful conversations with friends, listening to music. The BBC. All the arts and modern culture in general. Arsenal.Watching a beautiful sunset. Lying on my back in a field looking at stars. Listening to the frogs or crickets sing. Enjoying the silence of being underwater. Feeling the wind on my face when close-hauled. Meditation.Discovering the meaning and purpose within my personal and professional life, being self-reflective and bettering mys
I typically spend my leisure time
I like to stay busy and go out alot. Whether its an outdoor activity, meditation, meeting a friend for lunch, seeing a movie (alone or with someone else), sailing on my boat, or going to a museum, bar or club in San Francisco. I dont like staying home and I dont like watching too much TV (when I do its always Tivo, not live). I love just hanging out with people wherever that may be. Im not good at shopping! There are better things to do with my time. Travelling and meditation. In nature/the countryside.
The most influential person in my life has been
I want a deep, honest, open, compassionate, empathic, balanced, fun, caring, loving, and egalitarian dynamic, with SHARED interests and values. I want to feel I can express myself freely and be supported in that expression, and I want the other person to feel that too. It is important that the other person is comfortable being self-reflective and is willing to acknowledge their own imperfections. I am looking for an adventurous, cheerful, sociable, secure, confident and financially stable person and someone who enjoys (or is willing to try) traveling and outdoor activities such as sailing and snowboarding.
The first thing people notice about me
Fairness and reasonableness. My approachability. My height. My friendliness. My blue eyes. My openness and integrity. My opinions (pretty left-wing/progressive).
The last book I read and enjoyed
Drama of the Gifted Child by Alice Miller. Its a useful tool for seeing how our childhood "dramas" affect us today, but how we can overcome these things now. War and Peace by Tolstoy. One of the longest stories ever written and just a classic piece of literature. I wish this question asked about movies: I have seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind twice and found it brilliant.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- Health and mobility
- intelligence, intellect, and humor
- compassion, integrity, and emotional depth
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
That I believe in finding resolution for both people. That I am easygoing, generous, and thoughtful. I dont have all the answers to all the problems! I hope my modesty and humility comes through. I would rather split the bill equally than divide it up by who bought the expensive wine and who had the soda.
Friends Describe me as
Articulate, Genuine, Good listener, Modest
A little more about me
I am English, and lived in US for 12 years. I always like to add more items to any list I am asked to complete! I am a work in progress. I bought a fridge magnet. It says "Im still learning" and it was attributed to Michelangelo. If he can say that, then so can I. I look forward to meeting other beautiful and interesting works in progress who are "still learning." I dont want to meet Ms. Perfect. Its too unrealistic and boring. I wouldnt want to be around her arrogance. The most interesting personal growth and development occurs during the challenging times.
