More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Being true to yourself. I have found the most happiness in life when I have been honest with myself and followed my dreams. I love to learn. To me it is so important to continuously improve your mind, always to learn. As a teacher I am passionate about sharing my love of music and learning with my students. Good thing I'm a music teacher, huh?

I typically spend my leisure time

Relaxing. I believe that the ability to veg out is highly underrated. Other than that I spend time with friends, watching movies, enjoying music, taking classes, cooking, and doing crafty projects.

The most influential person in my life has been

The ability to be a kid. Someone who can laugh at themeslves and at life. An openness to new experiences and the ability to embrace the world around them. The all around ability to be a goof ball.

The first thing people notice about me

I think that people notice my personality. I'm outgoing, friendly, and love to laugh (often at my own expense). I'm always smiling and talking, trying to draw those around me into the action.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I just finished a trilogy by Garth Nix. It is a fantasy series that just floored me. The first book (Sabriel) took a bit to read since it is very complex and I kept getting distracted. The other two books (Lariel and Abhorsen) I finished in 3 or 4 days (not each, but both books in that time. They were just that good!) I am a voracious reader. These books were well written, complex, and vivid.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My life- I have been incredibly fortunate in the quality of life I have lived.
  2. My family- They have made me who I am. I come from a large extended family and would never wish for it to be different.
  3. My friends- They are my support. I could not ask for a group of crazier, more understanding, and loyal friends.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My intelligence. Many people learn that I teach elementary school music and assume that it is because I lack the talent to perform or the intelligence to do something else.

Friends Describe me as

Easy-Going, Funny, Happy, Warm

A little more about me

I have many more layers than people seem to think. You need to look beyond the excessively chatty, smiley exterior to see the complexity beneath. I think that is true of most people. Also, I just got a new teaching job and will be moving back to Chicago soon. Woo hoo! I can't wait. Oh how I have missed you, my fabulous city!
