The one thing I am passionate about...
It's important to me to be involved in my community -- I'm usually on a couple of nonprofit boards. I try to stay informed about current issues, but I'm not a news junkie. I'm passionate about a lot of things (principles, friends, causes...) hopefully always in a reasonable and open-minded way! I buy organic.
I typically spend my leisure time
Walking my dog, reading, watching movies, going out to eat, listening to music, hanging out with friends. My ideal Saturday night is to hang out on the deck drinking wine and having a good conversation with a few friends. I love to travel, but usually love coming home even more.
The most influential person in my life has been
Kindness, integrity and an inquisitive mind. I love to be around people who think about things, seek out knowledge and new ideas, have opinions, and challenge me (respectfully) to think in new ways. But not all the time, it's good to be able to just relax too!
The first thing people notice about me
Probably my smile, and that it's easy to make me laugh. I'm generally seen as likeable, positive and pleasant to be around. (If I can get an interview for a job I usually get the job.)
The last book I read and enjoyed
I have a habit of starting multiple books and not always finishing them. Voluntary Simplicity by Duane Elgin is one I just picked back up again. The concept has had a big impact on me - it's about trying to live intentionally and purposefully and limiting the "clutter" in your life.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- my truly exceptional extended family
- close friends
- experiences and people who taught me to think outside the box
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Had to ask a friend about this one. She said "you're funny, but it doesn't really come out until people get to know you better."
Friends Describe me as
Genuine, Intelligent, Loyal, Perceptive
A little more about me
For the past three years I have been living in Cedar Rapids, IA, but I am in the process of moving back to Nashville (where I lived for 10 years before coming to Iowa).
