The one thing I am passionate about...
Good and varied food! Also, I worked with non-profits for many years and am tied to wildlife, the environment and human needs...relief, eliminating prejudices and stereotypic thinking, expanding knowledge and opportunities, helping those in need, sharing gifts, providing comfort and security. Am fascinated with learning everything I can about almost everything except software, but especially science, medicine, history & anthropology. I always have several books by my bed - a good mystery, a history, a science. Okay - maybe also the latest issue of US. My son & daughter are surely my 2 greatest passions and inspirations.
I typically spend my leisure time
I truly love to travel and explore - even locally - and have an affinity for botanical gardens, wildlife preserves and any beautiful outdoor space. I also like to read, cook, go out with friends, see movies, hang out, go to beach and lectures and museums and all the normal things - especially those that involve learning or experiencing something outside of my normal sphere - but I don't always allow myself the leisure I should. I would like to spend more leisure time outdoors and following creative pursuits.
The most influential person in my life has been
How can there be one? He has to be a "good man", with all that contains...including humor, intelligence, a firm core and a caring heart. On top of that, I must admit I just can't help but gravitate towards boyish charm and good looks. There must be fun and light-heartedness.
The first thing people notice about me
That I put people at ease.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Currently reading Jimmy Carter's new book - which everyone needs to read for a truly thoughtful exploration of our nation's historical values! The last book I completed is called BLINK. It's all about how we instantly know things without knowing how we know them - the thing some people call "intuition" or "instinct". Fascinating information and insights. I recently finished "In the Wake of the Plague", too. Wow! What unexpected chains to our world and experience today. History and science - mmmmm, got to love them! For fun, nothing beats a mystery - Julie Smith, Janet Evanovich, Robert Parker, Tony Hillerman, etc.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- the love, health, happiness and success of my children, family and friends
- the blessings of a good mind, healthy body and strong heart
- the wealth of opportunity, advantages and experiences available to me at this time, in this place.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
My Southern upbringing has produced a politeness and agreeability that is sometimes mistaken for compliance and gullibility.
Friends Describe me as
Articulate, Funny, Genuine, Intelligent
A little more about me
I'm seriously wondering how accurate the Personality Profile is. After all, will your answers be the same late at night after a hard day as they will be after a good lunch on a great day? I don't know - so I'll take your profile with a grain of salt and hope you'll do the same with mine...yet I'd like to see your picture. Eyes tell a lot.
