The one thing I am passionate about...
Im into current events and politics. My job involves writing about foreign politics and I really enjoy it. I love listening to NPR. I love to travel and I enjoy the sights and sounds of different cultures. I speak three foreign languages, including French and Spanish, and love keeping up with them. Just as important are aspects of my personal life. I appreciate good conversation and think it's important to listen to others' viewpoints. I value moderation and tolerance. In my spare time, I love foreign movies, going to plays, talking with friends, going out to dinner, checking out museums, roller-blading, skiing, and bike-riding.
I typically spend my leisure time
I love foreign movies, plays (serious dramas more than musicals), symphonies: I also enjoy silly flicks like Monty Python or Airplane. I love reading the Washington Post and listening to NPR, especially This American Life and Car Talk. I watch very little TV except for the news, documentaries, or Seinfeld and Simpsons reruns. Im pretty serious about non-fiction, but try to read fiction occasionally. I love downhill skiing and roller-blading. Im not passionate about golf or tennis, but would be a willing partner for someone who is. A while ago I took up the clarinet and have resumed it recently.
The most influential person in my life has been
I would love to find a woman who is kind, communicative, smart and generous. Id like a best friend who feels free to share her thoughts with me and with whom I can share mine. Hopefully, well be able to discuss whats going on in the world and the US; Im a political liberal and would not relate well to conservatives. Id like someone with spark, a sense of humor, spontaneity, self-confidence and passion. Physical attraction is always important in a relationship too. But mostly, we should be able to communicate well and help each other through the happy and trying times.
The first thing people notice about me
People consider that Im easy-going, low-maintenance and friendly. I have an easy smile and I try to understand the other persons point of view. Im articulate and well-read and I enjoy engaging in conversation about inter-personal issues as well as US politics and international events.
The last book I read and enjoyed
No Ordinary Time, by Doris Kearns Goodwin, is a biography of FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt. It is compelling read because it masterfully interweaves their personal lives with historical events going on in the US and the world. For example, the author describes Eleanor's ability to be the eyes and ears for the handicapped FDR, her passion for social justice, and the romantic meanderings of both FDR and Eleanor.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- my friends, family and relatives
- my health and optimistic attitude
- my interesting job and colleagues
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
People probably dont realize that Im well-traveled and sophisticated about world events. Im passionate in learning about foreign cultures and I speak three languages, including French and Spanish. In addition, people may not realize right away that I have a great capacity for empathy.
Friends Describe me as
Easy-Going, Hard Working, Intelligent, Optimistic
A little more about me
My efforts as a father have paid off handsomely, and I have a wonderful daughter (25) and son (23) who make me very proud.
