The one thing I am passionate about...
The power of attitude to affect our experiences and relationships. I try to be the best person I can be, sharing my gifts when I can and learning from others every day. As we travel our individual paths, we leave traces of ourselves behind, touching people in ways we might never know. So I try to make choices that are right for me, bring positive people into my life, and bring kindness and warmth into others' lives.
I typically spend my leisure time
Singing; exploring new neighborhoods; concerts, movies and opera; spending time with friends and family; working out; listening to music; walking, hiking and camping; volunteering; reading; thinking.
The most influential person in my life has been
The ability to communicate well about what's important to him, and the ability to listen well and understand me when I want to share what's on my mind. Also, a "young at heart" attitude would be nice.
The first thing people notice about me
I'm warm and enthusiastic, and people tell me that I help put them at ease. Plus, they're always surprised to find out my age. I guess I'm more energetic than they expect someone in her early 40's to be!
The last book I read and enjoyed
"The Mauritius Command," by Patrick O'Brian. One of his wonderful historical novels about the British Navy and the Napoleonic Wars. Very evocative of a far-away time and place, with characters that just leap off the page.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- Good health: my own and my family's
- Having not only everything I need, but almost everything I want as well
- Having an interesting job where I can use my gifts to make a contribution
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I'm pretty much "what you see is what you get." I don't believe in hiding important parts of myself. If I want people to know something about me, I make sure to share it...
Friends Describe me as
Caring, Intelligent, Optimistic, Thoughtful
A little more about me
I'm highly verbal but deeply appreciate the ability to be silent with someone as well. Words have their limitations! Also, I'm Jewish but not observant. I live my life with a deep and abiding faith-- in the future, in the power of love and redemption, in the power of people to effect change in the world-- but organized religion doesn't do much for me. I hope my partner will see himself as part of something large, mysterious and spectacular, as I do. And finally, I recently completed 2 years' service as a Peace Corps Volunteer and moved to NYC in Sept '04. I'm enjoying exploring this amazing city!
