More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am learning to be most passionate about the things God has a heart for. Its very true that He is most glorified when we are most satisfied in Him. And being satisfied in Him means loving what He loves. Right now, for me, some of those things are missions, travelling and learning about God's peoples and cultures. I want to go everywhere! God created a lot, and I want to see it all.

I typically spend my leisure time

Being in vet school doesn't allow much leisure time, but I guess one of the things that I make time for everyday is quiet time with God. It's one thing I'm learning I can't live without. God is so good, isn't He? The Lord is putting in me a heart for His Word and my daily devotional time is one of the perks of my day.

The most influential person in my life has been

Probably the most important thing I could ask for in a person is someone who is committed to the Lord. Not just on Sunday mornings, or when it's convenient. Someone who knows what it means to take up his cross. Missions is a huge part of God's heart, and I think it's important for us to have that same heart. A desire to be a missionary is a must! To lay down his own life so that he can glorify God. That's mostly what I'm looking for.

The first thing people notice about me

People often tell me I'm a good listener. I don't know if that's exactly true; I know I can stand some improvement! I guess I take a lot of pride in that assessment - I value someone who can listen and actually HEAR what someone is trying to say. To take the time and think about the talker while they are talking.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I'm in the middle of reading a book by John Zumwault called "Passion for the Heart of God". It's about a biblical view on missions and the impact the Great Commission has on each of our lives. I'm really enjoying it because the author has a great sense of humor and it is full of solid biblical truth.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My living relationship with Jesus Christ
  2. The opportunities I've been given
  3. How God will use me in the future

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

People often don't notice that I am acutally a much warmer person than I typically let myself appear. I'm afraid I make kind of an aloof first impression, mostly because I don't assume people like me and/or want to get to know me, so I don't force them to! I am NOT a forward person, unless I am really comfortable in a relationship. But I am always responsive to another person's gesture towards me.
