More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I'm passionate about learning... I'm passionate about ideas...I'm passionate about my relationships.

I typically spend my leisure time

I see a lot of movies. I read a lot - newspapers, magazines and books. I exercise a lot (cardio, strength and yoga). And it's amazing how much time life maintenance takes - paying the bills, doing the laundry, buying the groceries.

The most influential person in my life has been

One of the most important qualities is intelligence (or competence) - I enjoy being challenged and stimulated by smart people.

The first thing people notice about me

Probably my accent - although I was born in New England, my mother is from North Carolina - so I had a Southern accent before I had ever set foot in the South. Might be my odd sense of humor.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I'm reading the Historian, but may not finish it. Before that The Traveller by John Twelve Hawks and the latest Harry Potter book. Before that, Freakonomics and Blink. After joining eHarmony, I read Neil Clark Warren's Falling in Love for all the Right Reasons - it was very interesting and not at all what I expected. The Broker by John Grisham. The last two books I started (but haven't finished) were Coming to Our Senses by Jon Kabat-Zinn and Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. And the last book I raved about was Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card - great science fiction!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My health
  2. My abilities
  3. My relationships

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

(Previous response deleted because the quirky humor was completely lost on several respondents and resulted in some unfortunate misunderstandings - not an uncommon problem.)

Friends Describe me as

Ambitious, Articulate, Intelligent, Rational

A little more about me

Three additional things. First, I've known since I was a teenager that I didn't want to have children - and much to the surprise of my parents, my opinion on the subject has never wavered. Second, I spend all day in front of a computer so if I don't immediately respond to a communication it's probably because I can't stand the thought of spending any more time at the keyboard. Third, I often say (when asked why I've never married) that I feel like an albino tiger searching the jungle for another albino tiger. The best response I've ever received was from my yoga instructor, she said, "I guess you'll have a lot in common when you find her"
