The one thing I am passionate about...
Im passionate about the search for truth in all things. I want to know how and why people and things work the way they do and became the way they are. I love finding the little connections between things that reveal the universe. I also have a love for history as Churchill said, "The farther back you look, the farther forward you are likely to see."
I typically spend my leisure time
On a day off I like to go camping, rafting, and other outdoors stuff, or take a class in something that's new to me. In between I like to read about whatever my latest discovery in life is, watch a documentary or a classic movie, or just get lunch with a friend. I don't tend to do off-the-wall stuff on my own, but I'm flexible and curious to try new things that other people want to do.
The most influential person in my life has been
I liked Laura Linneys portrayal of Abigail Adams from HBO's John Adams miniseries and the way they complemented each other. Sharp as a tack and a good mother, she respected his integrity and admired his intellect and other strengths, but she also knew his weaknesses. She served to moderate his aptitude for being his own worst enemy, and she was a better judge of people than he was. Linney also has that understated beauty that I go for.
The first thing people notice about me
Its hard not to notice that I'm very tall - hey, there's no overlooking 6'6". After that, you'll probably wonder what I'm deep in thought about pondering the mysteries of the universe (or maybe something you just said).
The last book I read and enjoyed
"The Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius. It's a collection of self-help notes by the philosophical 2nd century Roman Emperor (the one that's murdered by his son in the movie Gladiator, though he wasn't murdered in real life). His observations are still relevant today. And he had an interesting perspective on things, being a Roman Emperor and all that...
The three things which I am most thankful for
- Family -- I have a sister, parents, and grandparents all living in the area.
- Career -- I like being an engineer, and I love working on rockets.
- Health -- No question.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I take pride in being open-minded. I tend to state a lot of opinions or other observations, and it's easy for people just meeting me to mistake that for closed-minded. However, nothing could be further from the truth -- I am very curious and get stimulation from the ideas of people around me. Im particularly impressed by a woman with insights on the world that I lack.

A little more about me
I recently bought a house and so I may not immediately respond because I'm occupied with fixing things up or running errands -- it's almost like having a new baby.
