More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Hiking (day hikes) are wonderful, take me away from the city stress, and remind me of the wonder of nature. I roast my own coffee. I've been taking a larger interest in politics since 9/11, and object to knee-jerk positions at either end of the political spectrum.

I typically spend my leisure time

Hiking, emailing (a natural for a writer), browsing websites, watching news and movies. I don't seem to read as much as I used to. In college I was a ravenous science fiction reader.

The most influential person in my life has been

Kindness towards others. Enthusiasm for life. Someone who can help pull me out of my shell a bit (and I'll reciprocate, of course). Open-minded in the sense of thinking for herself, rather than thoughtlessly parroting the opinions favored by one group or party. A real willingness to listen and think, and maybe change her mind... or mine.

The first thing people notice about me

My easygoing sense of humor. Maybe my intelligence - I seem to know a little about a lot of things, and I'm always interested to learn more.

The last book I read and enjoyed

A biography of Walter Lippman, a political writer and influential person on the edge of politics for much of the 20th century. Follows the important world events from World War I through Viet Nam. Amazing because of how similiar the issues and interest groups are with what we see today. Maybe means the world hasn't learned all that much from its history.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My health. Not perfect, but can't complain.
  2. My best friend. We understand each other very well.
  3. My rediscovery of nature with every hike.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My honesty - I'm pretty upfront about myself. Many folks are not, and assume others have ulterior motives.

Friends Describe me as

Funny, Intelligent, Kind, Sweet
