More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about my responsibility to take care of my family and God's creatures. I take in pound puppies, stray kittens, baby rabbits, and prarie dogs. I was late to work today rescuing a baby bird from one of my cats. I just wish I knew more about veterinary medicine to help more of them.

I typically spend my leisure time

My leisure time is spent on long walks along the Potomic River with my dogs, kayaking and camping in the Adirondacks and skiing wherever I find snow. When I am home, I read and visit my daughter and her beautiful children in MD as often as possible.

The most influential person in my life has been

Friendship, someone to share my interests...love of the out-of-doors, the beauty of nature, family and quiet nights by the fire.

The first thing people notice about me

Most people notice my independence and take-charge manner first. After that, they notice my dry wit and sense of humor.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The last book I read was Lake House by James Patterson. This novel was not nearly as good as others he has written, but he developed the characters in such a way that they were quite believable in spite of an unrealistic plot. In this story an FBI agent and veterinarian risk all to save four children who are being victemized by an unethical researcher. I liked the fact that in the end, good triumphed.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My children
  2. My grandchildren
  3. My dog

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I wish people close to me could see past my independent facade and relize I would really like to feel "cared for".
