More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

There are several areas. Time permitting, I can spend hours reading history; I love to examine and appreciate great architecture; I greatly enjoy studying and discussing theology and the truths of scripture; and there is nearly nothing to compare to the experience of listening to great music!

I typically spend my leisure time

I enjoy: maintaining and enhancing my yard; spending time with good friends; reading; and observing and interacting with nature and the best aspects of culture.

The most influential person in my life has been

A genuine and kind spirit, and a heartfelt trust in Christ.

The first thing people notice about me

Friends say I am attentive, upbeat, and cheerful.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Two books by David Mc Cullough were especially good: "John Adams" (biography) and "1776" (history). He is a fantastic writer! These works left me with a renewed appreciation of the people and events surrounding the founding of our nation. I also enjoyed Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Having not read much fiction for some time, I was surprised at how engrossing this work was for me. I especially appreciated Tolkien's creation of peoples, cultures, languages, and histories--some of which were not central to the story line, but nonetheless flowed from the author's incredible mind.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. That I belong, body and soul, in life and in death, to my faithful savior Jesus Christ.
  2. That I have, and have had, family (of multiple generations) living close by.
  3. That I am a part of a great local church, which faithfully proclaims the gospel of grace.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I can't think of anything at this time.

Friends Describe me as

Articulate, Dependable, Good listener, Kind

A little more about me

My family has been in California for four generations, but I probably do not fit the concept of the typical Californian (of course, it is seldom wise to rely on a stereotype). I am "Reformed" in my Christian faith.
