The one thing I am passionate about...
I am most passionate about helping others achieve success in their lives. Most of my work, both professionally and relationally, has been in this vein - from teaching, coaching, and volunteering to listening to and talking with others. I have only recently understood that I have to also receive this from others and deserve to receive it and have been working diligently at improving myself along these same lines.
I typically spend my leisure time
I spend my leisure time in a variety of ways, depending on my mood, my needs, and the availability of others. I enjoy my kids whenever I can; sometimes I seek solitude to work on or simply enjoy myself and other times I seek the companionship of my friends; I ride and train horses for relaxation, learning, and healing; I enjoy landscaping/gardening; a good conversation with another person or with God is great; sometimes I escape into my work, whether it is growing my career or in my other work of life.
The most influential person in my life has been
Honesty and integrity in who they are, what they are, what they will (or want to) be, and in how they relate to the world (people, work, & their values & beliefs) around them. I also want someone who is willing to work hard for the things they believe in, including their relationships with others.
The first thing people notice about me
I have been told that my voice can have a calming and soothing effect on others, that it portrays a confidence in what I say and who I am. Although I haven't always felt this confidence, I guess that others perceive it through my voice.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Other than the Bible and self help/religious books (such as "Purpose Driven Life", "God Will Make A Way", "Wild At Heart"), I enjoy a good western, historical novel, and/or fiction. The last "fun" book I read was a historical western about Jesse James and his gang. Not only was the story good, but the underlying drama of the characters' lives and the evolution of society during that period of time was fascinating.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- The opportunities and challenges that God has put in my life that have shaped me into who I am
- My two children, who are and have grown into awesome young adults
- The blessings I have received in my life (although I didn't always recognize them at the time!)
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
This would have read THAT I AM IMPORTANT a few years ago, because I was looking to others for validation of myself. However, over the past few years, I have really worked and grown my self and my ability to have and maintain relationships, so I no longer really have anything for this space. I now think that if someone doesn't notice something about me that I want them to - I either need to show it better, make myself understood more clearly, or realize that they don't see it because they are not looking for it.
Friends Describe me as
Good listener, Intelligent, Passionate, Perceptive
A little more about me
I am ready to be patient, learn more, and be ready when(ever) the Lord shows me the woman He has chosen. Although I desire to be with someone, I don't know if that is His plan right now - we'll see!
