The one thing I am passionate about...
I am passionate about having a positive impact on other people's lives, which I can do most powerfully when I am trusting in God's love, strength, and guidance. The most significant way I have done this is through adopting a child (an amazing story I'd love to share with you if we meet!). I am looking for a partner who shares this passion to help people ... in any kind of way!
I typically spend my leisure time
Dining out, going to the theater, movies, sports events, and travel. I've done a lot of overseas travel, and now I'm trying to see more of the United States. I had a wonderful weekend this Fall in Lancaster, when my daughter and I stayed in an amazing bed and breakfast for one of her sporting events.
The most influential person in my life has been
I'm looking for someone who loves God passionately and wants to serve Him. I'm also looking for someone who wants to make a difference in others' lives, which we could do together in some way. And a sense of humor helps, too!
The first thing people notice about me
My positive outlook towards life and my encouraging attitude towards friends
The last book I read and enjoyed
For Christian reading, I enjoy Nouwen, Yancy, and C.S. Lewis. One book that had an incredible impact on my spiritual life was Silence by Shasuko Endo, a book about a Spanish missionary to Japan who has the choice of renouncing his faith or watch other Christians be killed. It reminded me that there are no easy answers in the Christian life. More recently, I was very inspired when I read The Meaning of Marriage by Tim Keller (who incidentally was my pastor when I lived in New York City) and realized that the marriage he describes is the marriage I would want to work toward.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- my relationship with God
- my family and friends
- the opportunity to spend 8 years living abroad
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
My inner strength
Friends Describe me as
Caring, Genuine, Intelligent, Spiritual
A little more about me
My Christian faith is very important to me, I tend to question and debate everything, which I find leads to more spiritual depth. The photo -- the dog belongs to my friend. My child and I now own a lhasa alpso, probably the friendliest and most affectionate pet I have ever had.
