More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about many things, but "most passionate" about a few: my walk with God, spending meaningful and fun times with family and good friends, reading a romantic mystery, seeing a powerful play or movie that really impacts how I view life, and finding as many ways as I can to help others.

I typically spend my leisure time

Reading, writing poems and short stories, going for a long walk, or going to a play, concert, or movie. I also love to travel. The Oregon coast is one of my favorite places to go. In addition, I spend a lot of time with family and friends, just talking and enjoying each other's company.

The most influential person in my life has been

Compassion for others, faith in God and in himself, genuine optimism and a sense of humor.

The first thing people notice about me

Usually it's my way with words. Since I was a little girl, I have loved writing, reading, and getting to know others. I like finding creative, new ways to express ideas. I have a pretty quick wit and like to use my sense of humor to put people at ease.

The last book I read and enjoyed

I really enjoyed reading "John, Son of Thunder." It's a novel based on the life of Jesus' disciple, John. It is obvious that the author did a great deal of research and really makes Biblical times come to life. The story of John coming to believe in Jesus as the Messiah was very movingly told.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My relationship with the Lord.
  2. The kindness, support, and good humor of my friends and family.
  3. A sense of humor and the resilience to withstand life's challenges.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Given my answer to the last question, this may sound strange, but I would say it's my sense of humor. This is especially true if I am in a group situation, as I tend to get quieter then. However, if I notice other people feeling nervous as well, I'm more likely to approach them or make a funny comment to try to make them laugh. People from very diverse backgrounds can bond over common humor, and I like to be a part of that.
