More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Trying to live a non-violent life. Individually, this can be in terms of my actions and my words. I try not to be brash but mindful in every aspect of my life. I am not saying that I am always successful! In fact, I'm pretty impulsive and often speak without thinking, which to me is violent. I also try to extend this commitment to non-violence to my political leanings and to my work as well.

I typically spend my leisure time

As often as possible, I take walks in nature. I love to see films that are both aesthetically stimulating and make me think. When I am not using my hands to be creative, I usually have a book in them.

The most influential person in my life has been

I am looking for a critical thinker who is not afraid to stand up for what he or she believes in. I would also like this person to be able to reflect and to listen.

The first thing people notice about me

I am empathetic and personable but am not afraid to express my opinion.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Body Toxic by Suzanne Antonetta. The author is a poet who recounts spending her summers on the water near Tom's River, NJ in an area where there had been a great deal of toxic dumping. She poetically intermingles her environmental activism with her experiences as a child of immigrants and her family's history of mental illness.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My health
  2. The fact that I have been able to wander and connect with people and places.
  3. My freedom to speak my mind and to study, study, study...

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Sometimes, because I seem so self-assured, people may not realize that I also need encouragement.
