The one thing I am passionate about...
I am most passionate about finding happiness, both for myself and others. It took a lot of hard life lessons for me to get this priority straight, and I think anyone that truly understands it is blessed with much wisdom. I think (having been this person myself) that anytime one makes the search for fame, fortune, power, knowledge, love, or other worldly pursuits an end unto itself without remembering the ultimate goal is to further one's happiness or that of one's fellow man, s/he has missed the point entirely!
I typically spend my leisure time
I'm almost always in the company of my great friends when I have free time; what we do when we're together ranges from practicing martial arts or playing games to taking a road cruise at 2am. Otherwise, you'll probably find me with my family, a good book, or making a disaster area out of my kitchen.
The most influential person in my life has been
Easy and open communication. Nevermind that I'll never get to know a woman if I'm not comfortable speaking with her. Nevermind that I couldn't resolve relationship conflicts with a woman I couldn't talk to. Nevermind that we'll never gain anything from our successes and failures together if we can't articulate what we've learned. Nevermind those, because if a woman can't keep up a conversation, the chemistry will never be there for me in the first place!
The first thing people notice about me
I'm pretty talkative and love to be around people that will keep up the conversation. I'll talk about anything from music and books to why ramifications of Gdel's Incompleteness Theorem and the Turing Thesis suggest there *is* a God!
The last book I read and enjoyed
Carol Berg's "Transformation". This book was recommended to me by a friend who knew that "The Coldfire Trilogy" by C.S. Friedman is my favorite series of novels. The thing I like about both trilogies is that the characters struggle to make decisions where the choices each have conflicting good and evil potentials - this blurring to gray of these traditionally black and white concepts is a favorite topic of mine for philosophizing.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- My family, for their love, encouragement, and belief in me
- My friends, for their loyalty, honesty, and comaraderie
- My health; I've been without this once - you take it for granted!
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
While I won't claim I'm not a geek - I worked hard on learning what I have, and I'm proud of it! - I'm not only a geek. I enjoy a lot of things besides computers and math ;) I'm a black belt in Taekwondo and used to compete at the world level in sparring. I love to sing the Goo Goo Dolls and Savage Garden at karaoke. I cook with reckless abandon. And I think ice-skating makes a great first date!

A little more about me
I'm a hopeless romantic, and hope to find a woman who appreciates that. I want to find the right woman to sweep off her feet right into the fairy-tale romance!
