More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I guess the things that I am most passionate about are ideas concerning how the world could be made a better, more just place, whether through politics, economics, philosophy, whatever.

I typically spend my leisure time

Most often, reading, watching movies, or playing online video games with my friends. Lately, I've been playing soccer and basketball in leagues full of people as awful as I am.

The most influential person in my life has been

This is sort of difficult to explain, and may sound rather strange, but what I'm really looking for is someone who is able to really "get" me, if that makes sense.

The first thing people notice about me

Unfortunately, probably my shyness, and the fact that I don't really talk very much in social situations.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Kim Stanley Robinson's "The Years of Rice and Salt". It's an alternate history novel in which 99% of Europe's population was killed in the Black Death, leaving China and the Islamic world as the dominant cultures. There aren't enough positive things that I can say about the book, but the part that made the biggest impression on me was the way the author mirrored the individual development of the characters with the historical struggle for greater justice in the world, and tied them both metaphorically to the idea of reincarnation.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. The fact that I have a reasonably good job in the current economy
  2. That I have a group of good friends
  3. That my grandfather dodged another bullet this past December when he went in for surgery

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I think the fact that I'm not very chatty often leads people to assume that I don't enjoy their company, when I'm actually quite friendly and enjoy the company of others very much.

Friends Describe me as

Easy-Going, Intelligent, Quiet, Thoughtful

A little more about me

Not that leaps to mind...
