More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

writing(!), languages, meeting people from other cultures, friendships, sharing "God stuff"

I typically spend my leisure time

reading... browsing in bookstores... watching movies... taking walks... taking in an art exhibit... rearranging the furniture... daytrips... hiking... talking to friends... trying a new recipe or restaurant

The most influential person in my life has been

a deep faith in Christ, desire to nurture others in their walk with Him coupled with humility and a desire to continually learn more

The first thing people notice about me

quiet, gentle, but friendly; approachable

The last book I read and enjoyed

A Year in Provence, Peter Mayle -- gently hilarious adventures in the French countryside, well written; A Practical View of Christianity, William Wilberforce -- profound, fresh, we stand to learn much from sitting at the knee of this wise and winsome man of faith; Blue Like Jazz, Donald Miller -- refreshingly honest, talks about God in relation to real life, using language of real people; Love Comes Softly, Janette Oke -- the books are actually much better than the Hallmark movies, a definite heart-warming by-the-fire read; Journey of Desire journal, John Eldredge--from a used bookstore, written in by some unnamed writerly soulful God-seeker

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. having God in my life (how do people live without Him?!)
  2. friends and family (relationships!)
  3. the gift of creativity, and being able to use that in my work (God made me to exercise my creative juices!)

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

my sense of humor... I have a whacky, humorous side (probably comes out more in my writing)

Friends Describe me as

Creative, Good listener, Intelligent, Spontaneous

A little more about me

Quirks: I talk to myself (thinking out loud); I'm a "bipolar housekeeper", i.e., I am neat and messy in spurts (but particular about things being clean); I'm an inveterate newspaper clipper, a collector of many things interesting (you never know when you might need that graphic of "space debris" you found in a design book); I'm a bit of a packrat (the more I move, the easier it is to let go of stuff); I'm a perfectionist in some things, and incredibly disorganized in others
