More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Until very recently, my house has been the thing that I have been most passionate about. I own the house my grandfather built for his family and where my mother grew up; taking care of it, decorating it, and spending time enjoying my 'work' on/in it comprise much of my time. In many ways, it is like a stage set, waiting for the other characters to 'come on'. I have recently decided that I would like to adopt a daughter, and am devoting much time and effort to raising funds and gathering information for this.

I typically spend my leisure time

I spend a certain amount of what should be leisure time on bookbinding work for personal clients, or work for gallery shows or shops. I am currently gathering information for a website, which is taking quite a bit of time. I love to read, watch TV and movies, enjoy cooking, and like to camp and travel when I can get away. I am always 'up' for antique, bargain, garage sale and flea market shopping.

The most influential person in my life has been

I think the most important thing would be the desrie to be half of a 'perfect' couple - not perfect in the superficially fashionable sense, but perfect for each other, since I am not perfect, and most men aren't either. There are many wonderful qualites, but if the person doesn't want to commit to a relationship, none of them really matter.

The first thing people notice about me

I think it is be my sense of self, though my "after meeting quizes" with our mutual friends have revealed comments about my sense of humor too.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The last book I read (finished today at lunch) was "To Love and Be Wise" by Josephine Tey, written in 1951. Set in England, it is a cosy-type murder mystery with clever writing and wry humor in the descriptions. British cosy mysteries are my favorite, and if they are set in the 1920's - 40's so much the better. P. G. Wodehouse is a delight too.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My loving family
  2. My good health
  3. My beautiful house

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I don't think there is anything I wish was readily apparent that isn't - I don't like to be the center of attention, and don't like it when people think they can tell anything about me, or anyone else, with a casual glance. I prefer to be a 'mystery' until I have decided I want someone to know me, so my answer to this is 'nothing'.
